The

Team Leader – Animal Welfare Operations is responsible for overseeing and coordinating field-level animal welfare activities, managing operational teams, ensuring legal compliance, and achieving program goals. The role involves managing resources, leading field investigations and rescue missions, supporting enforcement actions, and strengthening stakeholder partnerships. This position is key to ensuring efficient, ethical, and impactful delivery of animal welfare interventions on the ground.


Key Responsibilities:1. Operational Leadership


  • Plan, execute, and monitor day-to-day animal welfare operations including rescues, seizures, shelter transfers, cruelty investigations, and field inspections.
  • Lead and manage a team of animal welfare officers, coordinators, drivers, and support staff.
  • Ensure efficient deployment of staff, vehicles, equipment, and resources for field operations.
  • Maintain operational readiness for rapid response, including during emergencies or disasters.


2. Program Implementation


  • Coordinate animal welfare outreach programs such as vaccination drives, sterilization camps, and awareness events.
  • Support implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for handling animals, legal processes, and evidence documentation.
  • Monitor progress of welfare activities against targets and timelines.


3. Stakeholder Engagement


  • Act as primary point of contact for local authorities (municipal corporations, police, forest departments, animal husbandry, etc.) in AW operations.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with NGOs, community leaders, and veterinary networks.
  • Support legal teams in preparing case files, witness statements, and follow-up documentation for prosecution of animal cruelty cases.


4. Compliance & Reporting


  • Ensure all operations comply with applicable animal welfare laws (e.g., PCA Act, Wildlife Protection Act), SOPs, and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all activities, including animal rescues, transport logs, and resource utilization.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports on operations and outcomes for internal review and external audits.


5. Team Development


  • Mentor and train team members on operational procedures, humane handling, safety, and first aid.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve team efficiency and morale.
  • Foster a strong team culture centered on compassion, accountability, and professionalism.


Qualifications & Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in animal welfare or field operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team leader role.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian animal welfare laws, field protocols, and ethical handling practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership, logistical planning, and crisis management skills.
  • Fluency in English and [local language]; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred; willingness to travel extensively.


Job Types: Full-time, Permanent


Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
