MelJol (Registered India NGO) began as a field action project of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai in 1991 as a response to the changing landscape of Child Right and Education. MelJol seeks to address issues related to generational poverty by meaningfully involving children, youth, women, and community. We encourage a new generation of young people and intend to equip them with knowledge and skills to better understand values of citizenship, the power of economic growth, social & financial equity and concepts of risk and reward; enabling them to break the cycle of poverty. Our vision is a fair and inclusive society where different cultures coexist harmoniously.
· Develop, update, and implement financial policies, procedures, and systems for MelJol.
· Ensure adherence to financial guidelines, donor requirements, and internal controls at all levels of financial operations.
· Oversee fund management and ensure accountability for all financial transactions.
· Compile and submit accurate monthly Utilization Certificates (UCs).
· Prepare and monitor the organizational budget and financial forecasts.
· Oversee Finance and Administration functions of Meljol ensuring efficiency and high service standards.
· Design and implement effective financial and accounting systems.
· Ensure timely financial audits and implementation of audit observations.
· Support grant proposal development through budgeting, due diligence and financial inputs.
· Coordinate with external consultants and agencies for compliance matters.
· Build financial awareness and compliance capacity within program and administrative teams.
· Ensure timely compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including FCRA, Charity Commissioner, and Income Tax authorities.
· Master’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Minimum 5–8 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the NGO or development sector.
· Demonstrated experience in donor reporting, regulatory compliance (FCRA, Income Tax, Charity Commissioner), and handling NGO audits.
· Proficient in accounting software such as Tally ERP, and advanced in Microsoft Excel.
· Strong analytical and financial planning skills.
· Knowledge of statutory laws applicable to NGOs.
· Excellent communication, reporting, and documentation skills.
· Ability to manage teams and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
· Good learning attitude and participatory in approach.
