The Good Shepherd International School,
India’s best fully residential, international co-educational school, was founded by the late Dr. P.C. Thomas and Mrs. Elsamma Thomas in the year 1977. Originally known as the Good Shepherd Public School, it became an International School of the highest caliber of learning in the year 1995. Dr. P.C. Thomas and his wife Elsamma Thomas both started their careers as teachers themselves, which fostered their vision and goal to create the best educational institution in which a child can learn and grow.Purpose of the Job:
The School Nurse will be responsible for providing healthcare services to the students and staff at Good Shepherd International School. This role involves ensuring a healthy school environment through preventative care, health education, and prompt medical attention. The nurse will collaborate with the Resident Medical Officer and other staff to monitor and address health-related issues within the school community.
Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Provide day-to-day nursing care in the school hospital under the direction of the Resident Medical Officer.
+ Administer basic healthcare and first aid to ill, medically fragile, and/or injured students and staff.
+ Monitor and document vital signs, administer medications (including intramuscular, intravenous, and intracutaneous injections), and manage IV fluids and cannulas.
+ Develop and implement individualized health plans for students with specific medical needs.
+ Plan and implement school health protocols and procedures, particularly for emergency situations.
+ Conduct health assessments and screenings, including vision, growth and development check ups.

+ Provide ongoing health counseling to students, parents, and staff on various health-related topics.
+ Promote wellness among students and staff through preventive healthcare services, such as immunizations.

+ Collaborate with parents, students, resident medical officers, and external consultants to promote necessary treatment and comply with legal and medical requirements.
+ Chaperone students and staff to medical consultations outside the school campus as required.
+ Maintain open communication with the Resident Medical Officer and school administration regarding the health status of students and staff.
+ Attend school meetings and participate in-service training sessions.

+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records, including immunization records, health care plans, and medical emergency cards.
+ Prepare and submit reports on student health activities, compliance with district and state health regulations, and other relevant matters.
+ Report cases of suspected child abuse and students with reportable contagious diseases to the resident medical officer.
+ Ensure compliance with medical laws and school policies regarding student medications and health services.
Skills Required:* Proficient in nursing and medical skills, including the ability to monitor vital signs, administer injections, and handle emergency situations independently.
Qualifications Required:* Minimum qualification of General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM). Preferred B.Sc. in Nursing
Working Hours:* The position requires flexibility, including working evenings, overnights, weekends, and during school holidays, trips, and expeditions.
Working Conditions:* Environment: Office and outdoor environments with minimal temperature variations.
Other Considerations:* Candidates must demonstrate energy and enthusiasm in participating in the life of a busy residential school and must be prepared to take on residential responsibilities as part of their role
