Senior Data Engineer

What you'll do:

You are a capable, self-motivated data engineer. You will be a member of the data engineering team working on tasks ranging from design, development, operations of data warehouse, data platform and observability functions. We enjoy working closely with each other utilizing an Agile development methodology. Priorities can change quickly, but our team members are able to stay ahead to delight every one of our customers whether they are internal or external to Viasat.

The day-to-day:

• Ability to work on distributed remote agile teams with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently.
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. You will be required to communicate both verbally and in written form with remote international teams very frequently.
  
• Embracing the DevOps philosophy of product development, in addition to your design development activities you are also required to provide operational support of the post-production deployment.
  

What you'll need:

• 7+ years of experience with good knowledge of computer science fundamentals.
  
• Strong working knowledge in Python/GoLang.
  
• Experience with Big data technologies like Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Apache Flink, etc.
  
• Experience with Open source software like Logstash, ELK stack, Telegraf, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry is a plus.
  
• Experience with cloud computing concepts in AWS and GCP
  
• Continuous Integration & Deployment (CI/CD) training or experience with GitHub Actions, Ansible/Terraform.
  
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent technical background and experience.
  

What will help you on the job:

• Familiarity with cloud computing concepts
  
• Prior working experience in a DevOps team is a plus.
  
• CI/CD and Devops exposure is a strong plus
