We are seeking a skilled

Software Test Engineer (Test Automation Engineer – Enterprise Applications) to join Informatics &Connected Worksite -CAT IT division

The preference for this role is to be based out of

Chennai - Brigade World Trade Center

What you will do

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated QA Automation Engineer with hands-on experience in UI and API automation to join our dynamic Agile team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in automation testing, framework development, database testing, and a deep understanding of both manual and automated testing processes within an Agile environment.

• Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks for UI and API testing.
  
• Collaborate closely with development teams in an Agile setting to understand requirements, participate in sprint planning, and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  
• Develop and execute automated test scripts for UI and API to validate application functionality, performance, and reliability.
  
• Perform database testing to ensure data integrity and validate business logic.
  
• Actively participate in the full software development lifecycle, promoting and adhering to best practices in Agile testing methodologies.
  
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless test automation integration.
  
• Troubleshoot and debug test failures, collaborating effectively with developers to identify and resolve issues.
  
• Contribute to the continuous improvement and evolution of the automation framework.
  
• Provide clear and concise test results, logs, and reports to stakeholders.
  
• Collaborate with manual testers to ensure thorough test coverage.
  
• Utilize JIRA or Azure DevOps for task management, bug tracking, and sprint planning.
  

What you will have

Primary Skills:

• Proven hands-on experience in UI and API automation testing.
  
• Strong programming skills in Python (preferred) or Java.
  
• Hands-on experience with UI automation tools such as Playwright (preferred) or Selenium.
  
• Hands-on experience with API automation tools such as Requests, Rest Assured, Postman, or JMeter.
  
• Hands-on experience with database testing (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
  
• Solid experience in automation framework development and maintenance.
  
• In-depth understanding of testing processes, both manual and automated, with a keen eye for detail and quality.
  
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or AWS CodePipeline.
  
• Experience with version control tools (Git).
  
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  
• Strong understanding and experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  
• Experience with JIRA or Azure DevOps for issue tracking and project management.
  

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Oracle cloud platforms.
  

Experience with performance testing tools.

Software Product Testing: Knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software product quality and adherence to stated requirements.

• Participates in test readiness reviews, functional, volume, and load testing.
  
• Describes key features and aspects of a specific testing discipline or methodology.
  
• Tests software components for compliance with functional requirements and design specifications.
  
• Explains procedures for documenting test activities and results (e.g. errors, non-conformance, etc.)
  
• Conducts functional and performance testing on aspects of assigned products.
  

System Testing: Knowledge of system and software testing; ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Supports the project leader in developing and executing system test plans.
  
• Evaluates system documentation and user manuals for usability, accuracy and completeness.
  
• Executes test cases, analyzes test results and reports on findings regularly.
  
• Tests system components for compliance with functional requirements.
  
• Participates in the testing of a system's ability to recover from hardware or software failures.
