Job Summary

The

Senior Engineer - EHV Transmission Line will be responsible for the comprehensive engineering, design, and technical oversight of Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission lines (132kV, 220kV, 400kV) required for connecting renewable power projects to the utility grid. This role involves leading detailed engineering, ensuring compliance with national and international standards, providing technical support during construction, and optimizing line performance and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

EHV Line Design & Engineering:

  • Lead the detailed electrical and mechanical design of EHV transmission lines (132kV, 220kV, 400kV), including route alignment, tower spotting, conductor selection and sizing, insulation coordination, and sag-tension calculations.

  • Oversee the preparation of detailed engineering drawings, layouts, profiles, and bill of quantities (BOQ) for transmission lines.

  • Ensure designs comply with relevant Indian Standards (IS), Central Electricity Authority (CEA) regulations, Grid Codes, and international standards (IEC, IEEE).

  • Perform and review calculations for line parameters, short-circuit levels, and voltage drop.

Technical Specifications & Procurement Support:

  • Prepare comprehensive technical specifications and data sheets for all major transmission line components, including towers, conductors, insulators, hardware, and OPGW.

  • Provide technical evaluation of vendor offers and support the procurement team in selecting qualified suppliers.

  • Review and approve vendor-provided drawings and technical documentation.

Statutory Clearances & Right-of-Way (ROW) Coordination:

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants for obtaining necessary statutory clearances (e.g., forest, railway, road crossings, environmental) and managing Right-of-Way (ROW) issues for transmission line corridors.

  • Assist in technical discussions with State Transmission Utilities (STU) and Central Transmission Utility (CTU - PGCIL) for line connectivity and approvals.

Construction & Site Support:

  • Provide expert technical guidance and clarifications to construction teams and contractors during tower erection, stringing, foundation work, and other line construction activities.

  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, ensure quality adherence, and resolve technical issues on the ground.

  • Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and best practices during all phases of line construction.

Testing & Commissioning Support:

  • Support and oversee pre-commissioning checks and commissioning activities for EHV transmission lines, working closely with the commissioning team and utility personnel.

  • Assist in troubleshooting any technical issues that arise during testing and commissioning.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation for the EHV transmission line scope, including design approvals, test reports, as-built drawings, and operational manuals.

  • Prepare regular progress reports on EHV line activities for project management and senior leadership.

REQUIRED
