Job Description: Hydrogen Plant Operations Engineer / Manager

Position: Hydrogen Plant Operations Engineer / Manager

Location: Near Gandhidham Gujarat

Department: Production / Utilities / Green Energy

Experience Required: 5–15 years (based on role)

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering

Salary: As per Experience

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and monitor Hydrogen Generation Units such as:

Steam Methane Reformers (SMR)

Electrolyzers (PEM/Alkaline)

Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) units

Supervise daily hydrogen production, ensuring output meets purity, pressure, and flow targets.

Conduct preventive and breakdown maintenance of hydrogen generation equipment.

Implement safety protocols and HAZOP studies, ensuring compliance with explosive atmosphere standards (ATEX zones).

Monitor utilities: cooling water, feed gas, steam, power, etc.

Coordinate with the control room and ensure accurate data logging and plant performance reporting.

Assist in commissioning, shutdown, and start-up procedures of the hydrogen plant.

Ensure adherence to ISO, GMP, and safety standards.

Work with procurement and inventory team for spare parts and consumables.

Lead a team of technicians/operators and provide training as needed.

Key Skills & Knowledge:

Hydrogen generation principles & technologies

Hands-on experience with SMR/PSA/Electrolyzers

DCS/PLC operations and SCADA systems

Process safety management (PSM)

Emergency handling of H2 gas leaks

Knowledge of national/international codes like ASME, API, ISO

Root cause analysis (RCA), 5S, Kaizen, TPM

Preferred Industry Background:

Industrial Gas Manufacturing (Hydrogen/Oxygen/Nitrogen)

Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemicals

Green Energy / Renewable Hydrogen Projects

Fertilizer / Steel / Electronics where hydrogen is used
